Intolerances Environmental

The more chemicals your body absorbs on a daily basis i.e.: showering, bathing, make-up, shaving, etc, the weaker your body's immune system becomes.

Environmental intolerance or Idiopathic Environmental Intolerance (IEI) is an acquired disorder. It occurs as a result of multiple factors associated with the environment. Human bodies often find it difficult to cope with these diverse elements of the environment and thus their body shows symptoms of intolerance.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) and IEI

There is a general tendency of confusing MCS with IEI. It used to be that intolerance to chemicals was much the same as environmental intolerance. However, this is a narrow way of looking at IEI. Chemicals in the air do not solely constitute our environment. Environment includes flora, fauna and many other factors and influences; thus IEI can be caused by many other agents as well, other than chemical components. In this regard, the following issues need to be pondered over:

  • Food we consume creates an impact on our system and our immunity. This in turn affects and regulates our sensitivity towards the environment.
  • Other health disorders often aggravate possibilities and impacts of IEI. For instance, TNFA (tumour necrosis factor alpha) can provoke symptoms like joint and muscular pain. These symptoms often overlap with intolerances with respect to environment.

Major Triggers

The following are the possible factors than can set the stage for environmental intolerances:

  • Over-exposure to chemicals - Excessive contact with pesticides, petroleum based products, herbicides and over-consumption of medicines and steroids.
  • Stress - Worrying, taking too much stress; it can lead to the discharge of toxins.
  • Infection - Infection caused by viruses, bacteria etc that impacts the immune system.
  • Heredity - Tendencies offered by genes in terms of sensitivity to components of the environment.
  • Thyroid disorder - Low thyroid operation is a typical trigger for IEI.
  • More factors - trauma, exhaustive medical treatment, surgeries, accidents etc

Key cause of IEI

IEI as a disorder is spreading like wild fire on the earth. Many drastic changes in our environment over the years are responsible for this sickness. The changes are as follows:

  • The pace of ecological changes is overpowering the pace of adaptation in human bodies.
  • Use of chemicals have increased in every sphere of consumption be it, food supplies, food storage (preservatives), or even water.
